 Silves Castle started to be built in the 11th century and it is nowadays the finest example of Islamic Military Architecture in Portugal and also considered to be the biggest Castle in the Algarve Region.
Around the year 1250 the Castle was conquered from the Moors by Portuguese troops, and since then reconstruction and conservation works have been made.
  
  Situated in a lovely square in the charming Silves town, this monument is considered to be the main gothic monument in the Algarve.

The origins of the monument are unknown. Documents affirm that in 1189, when Silves was taken by the Christian troops to the Moors, the Cathedral was built over the ancient Mosque, yet there are no material vestiges of this fact.
  
 Situated in the Vilamoura Tourist resort, the Cerro da Vila Roman Ruins were possibly (probably between the I century and III) a rustic roman Villa, surrounded by fertile fields, composed by several bathtubs and Roman mosaics and water supplied from a dam built at about 2 Km distance, belonging to the territory of Ossonoba.
   
 Cape St. Vincent is cape is the southwesternmost point in Portugal. It forms the southwestern end of the E9 European Coastal Path.
Approximately six kilometers from the village of Sagres, the cape is a landmark for a ship traveling to or from the Mediterranean. The cliffs rise nearly vertically from the Atlantic to a height of 75 meters.
   
 Monchique is a municipality of southern Portugal, in the district of Faro (formerly the province of Algarve).It is located 13 miles south of Saboia station on the Lisbon-Faro railway. Monchique is one of the main Portuguese health-resorts, finely situated among the wooded heights of the Serra de Monchique, which rise on the west to 2963 ft. There are hot sulfur springs, with baths and a sanatorium 4 m. south in 'Caldas de Monchique' (Spring of Monchique).
